vista does not recognize my mouse

I installed Windows Vista in my machine, I did not reformat my HD, and everything seems to be fine, except for a few bugs, and especially because it does not recognize my mouse, it is not USB, it is PS2, and it is hard to work with the computer without my mouse. I can not re format my HD, I have a lot of stuff over there. can anyone help me to fix this problem?
